Vanessa Sula

I'm a dedicated professional with a passion for creating safer and more vibrant communities through Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED). With a background in community corrections, I've dedicated my career to fostering safety, walkability, and placemaking in our neighborhoods.

While earning my degree in Criminal Justice, I worked in Community Corrections to save public funds and jail overcrowding by working with individuals in lieu of jail time. As the Director of Community Corrections, I supported individuals reentering society after incarceration. This experience taught me the importance of creating environments that not only deter criminal activity but also facilitate integration and positive community engagement.

Motivated by a desire to bridge the gap between rehabilitation and community safety, I transitioned my focus to promoting walkability and placemaking. I firmly believe that well-designed public spaces can encourage positive social interactions and reduce crime. I've been involved in projects that prioritize walkable areas, green spaces, and community gathering areas, transforming once-neglected areas into thriving, safe, and inclusive places for all people.

By combining my experience in community corrections with my passion for fostering walkability and place-making, I strive to empower communities to create safer and active environments. I'm dedicated to building spaces that support integration, enhance the quality of life, and strengthen community bonds.
