About
Over 20 years of planning consultation experience working with local governments, specializing in developing long-range plans for future development, participation in regional transportation and land use organizations, advisory assistance to local planning commissions and boards of zoning appeals. Assistance with crafting long-range plans, studies to guide development at regional and local level. Research and preparation of land use controls and other applicable local codes, arranging and facilitating educational presentations for local commissions, boards, and staff to fulfill statutory requirements.
In 2022, I acquired certifications in Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control (Level 1 TNEPSC) and Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) with the National Institute of Crime Prevention. Ambition for continuing education and certification opportunities to improve my skillset and overall performance of planning.
I'm currently an Urban/Transportation Planner with Smith Seckman Reid (SSR), providing planning consultant services for communities, and also pursuing an initiative to offer CPTED consulting services through SSR.
My goal at SSR is to create a program to assist local governments, businesses, schools, and other entities with creating a safer environment for all users through planning for the built environment, increasing a feeling of safety and improvement of the quality of life at the community level in site design for new and existing facilities. On the transportation side, applying the ‘Vision Zero’ initiative for reducing serious injury and fatalities on roadways, demonstrating and showcasing a multitude of approaches that local practitioners can take to implement Vision Zero planning, decision-making, investments, prioritization and accountability. My effort intends to incorporate elements of the CPTED practice for pedestrian and bicycle-level safety, security, and resilience for transportation-related facilities into assessments of public sites and facilities.
Planning initiative to focus on vulnerable population categories such as School-Age children and Seniors (Age-Friendly initiative) for communities trending with increasing demographics where sufficient public infrastructure to accommodate variety of transportation modes is traditionally lacking; advocate for changing the safety culture in positive ways, and to bring awareness of the CPTED practice to the built environment.
