Patrol Officer Remo D’Alessandro serves as the Community Relations Officer for the Parsippany – Troy Hills Police Department located in Parsippany, NJ. The Parsippany PD is the largest police department in Morris County, NJ and serves its residents and business communities within the 26 square mile township.
Officer D’Alessandro is a former Marine & Life Member of the Totowa Boro Volunteer Fire Department. He comes from a manufacturing & corporate background, spending over 10 years with Sealed Air Corporation, a worldwide packaging product corporation. A Jersey native, Officer D’Alessandro began his police career in 2001 with the Paterson Police Department in the Patrol Division and also served as a Drill Instructor training recruits for the Paterson Police Academy. He was also involved in the Ground Zero support efforts after 9/11. He transferred to the Parsippany PD in 2004 and was assigned to the Patrol Division where he helped train new officers as a Field Training Officer. He also became certified as one of the department’s Firearms Instructors, Assault Rifle Instructor and a member of the Tactical Response Unit.
Having completed the Ten Community Policing Modules through the NJ Community Policing Institute, Officer D’Alessandro was transferred to the Support Services Division in 2013 to fulfill the Community Relations function. That function was part of many responsibilities within the division and therefore afforded Officer D’Alessandro the opportunity to serve as the department’s Training Coordinator as well as facilitate the hiring process through the NJ Civil Service Commission.
In the early years of his Community Officer position, he was given free reign to design and implement proactive community programs such as the Citizen’s Police Academy & “Coffee with a Cop”. He is certified in Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design through the National Institute of Crime Prevention (NICP) and extensively trained on the subject of Active Shooter, to include certifications in Surviving an Active Threat, Civilian Response to Active Shooter, Virtual Houses of Worship Security Programs, Site Protection through Observational Techniques, Combined Coordinated Attacks and is an Instructor in Run-Hide-Fight and “ALICE” Training. He has developed and presented his Active Threat PowerPoint to most of Parsippany’s religious & corporate community. He also conducts Security Assessments for Houses of Worship and corporate buildings.
Various other presentations that Officer D’Alessandro has developed are: Basic Crime Prevention, Scams & ID Theft, Distracted Driving, Neighborhood Watch Program and much more. These services are offered free of charge and have received positive feedback from Parsippany’s Senior Citizen groups and Neighborhood Associations. He also worked closely with Parsippany’s youth as an Instructor for the Juvenile Accountability & Leadership Program, Junior Police Academy and Youth Police Explorer’s Program.
