Stephen Weiler MS, MEP, CPP, CPD Manager of Resiliency Services, currently leads the Active Shooter/Threat and Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (TEAM®) programs, conducts security risk assessments, designs/delivers HSEEP compliant exercises, and advises clients on business continuity for HSS, Inc.  Prior to working with HSS, Steve spent over 28 years as a law enforcement professional. Throughout his career, his work evolved from hands-on field work to first line supervision to administration and management.  Steve was integral in coordinating his organization’s response activities to the 9/11 terror attacks and H1N1, preparation for NATO 2012, and countless other regional incident management activities.  In addition to these traditional law enforcement duties, Steve led numerous projects to establish stronger regional collaboration and coordination.  He served on a Cook County’s Community Health Advisory Council, led a multi-jurisdictional public health prophylaxis dispensing program, and was a member of a multi-jurisdictional task force preparing communities for active shooter incidents.

Since 2007, Steve has been instrumental in delivering FEMA’s Incident Command System courses to thousands of leaders in both the public and private sector. He earned his Master Exercise Practitioner (MEP) certificate and has designed and delivered numerous HSEEP compliant exercises. Steve also received his TEEX Critical Infrastructure Protection certificate, Illinois Professional Emergency Manager (IPEM) certification, ASIS Certified Protection Professional (CPP) designation, and Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) certificate.

Steve received his M.S. in Criminal/Social Justice Administration from Lewis University and completed the Administrative Officers Course through the Southern Police Institute. He served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago and Kaplan University. His coursework focused on topics related to terrorism, homeland security, and the role of criminal justice in peacekeeping operations throughout the globe.
