How long is the CPTED training course?

The length of course depends on the type of training you book: Basic or Advanced course.

BASIC CPTED COURSE

What can I expect to learn in the Basic CPTED course?

The Basic CPTED course is specifically designed for Crime Prevention Officers, Community Oriented Policing Officers or any other personnel charged with Crime Prevention duties.

This course covers fundamental knowledge regarding the theory, history and basic concepts of CPTED. Crime Prevention Design Strategies will be discussed for parks, schools, high-rise buildings and various kinds of residential developments.

We’ll highlight the developing influence of law enforcement agencies in the architecture and design of various facilities with a goal of preventing crime and reducing law enforcement calls for service.

ADVANCED CPTED COURSE

What can I expect to learn in the Advanced CPTED course?

The Advanced CPTED course is ideal for Law Enforcement Officers, Architects, City/Urban/Park Planners, City Managers, City Council Members, Landscape Architects, Security Consultants, Educators, and anyone involved in designing neighborhoods, schools, downtowns, buildings, or revitalization efforts.

Featuring engaging and hands-on Advanced CPTED ideas and applications, this course will teach you to create safe, sustainable, and healthy human spaces.

What do I wear?

With any CPTED training course, we recommend wearing business casual attire.

What do I bring?

Come prepared with the essentials to make the most of your training. Bring your laptop and digital camera/phone for the CPTED field assessment on Thursday and Friday.

What can I expect when I arrive?

Your CPTED training class will begin daily at 8:30am and end at 5:00pm. Follow any instructions provided in your registration confirmation, and be ready to receive any materials or badges that may be required for access to training sessions and activities.

In-person training with the NICP provides a unique chance to connect with like-minded professionals in the field of crime prevention! We encourage you to network with other CPTED Practitioners during the course and exchange ideas during hands-on activities.
