Brian Kornegay
CPD Instructor
Brian is a lifetime member and a past president of the Arizona Crime Prevention Association (ACPA). He has been a member of the International Society of Crime Prevention Practitioners (ISCPP) where he earned his Crime Prevention Specialist (CPS) designation. Brian is a CPTED Practitioner having received his early CPTED training from the National Crime Prevention Institute at the University of Louisville. He continued his CPTED education with the NICP and has earned the NICP’s CPTED Professional Designation (CPD).
Brian is a regular instructor in the state of Arizona on topics such as, CPTED, Crime Abatement, Crime Prevention, Physical Security Measures, Personal Safety and Community Policing. Brian has taught; at the Arizona Law Enforcement Academy, post academy and in-service classes for Phoenix PD, as a guest instructor for community colleges and Arizona State University, for AZPOST (Arizona Peace Officers Standards and Training Board) as well as at local, regional and international conferences
Brian’s CPTED Coordinator duties have him working with; developers, builders and business owners, preforming security assessments, speaking to planning committees, assisting with neighborhood charrettes, and presenting at many community meetings.

Frequently Asked Questions
What Time Do the Courses End on The Last Day of Training?
The courses are scheduled until 5:00pm. On the last day of both the Basic & Advanced CPTED courses participants complete an exam and a graded presentation. Remaining for all of the group presentations is a requirement for completing CPTED Training. The presentations include a variety of locations and issues that are presented and discussed as part of the curriculum.
What should I wear?
Business casual dress is expected.
What Should I Bring to the Basic CPTED Course?
Remember to bring your laptop and a smart phone for the CPTED field assessment and presentation on Thursday and Friday.
Where should I park?
There is parking available onsite at LVMPD.
Can I Leave Early on Friday?
No, Friday includes group presentations of the CPTED Field Assessments. Remaining for all the group presentations is a requirement for completing the 40 Hours of Basic CPTED Training. The presentations include a variety of locations and issues that are presented and discussed as part of the curriculum. So please do not ask to have your group present first, so that you can leave early. All certificates will be issued digitally by email.

Food is not provided however we give a 90 minute break at lunch to give students enough time eat and to travel to and from the event location.

Can I transfer credits from another CPTED training provider to use toward the NICP CPTED Professional Designation (CPD)?
No. The NICP has established the curriculum and requirements for the CPTED Professional Designation (CPD) based on accepted professional standards for CPTED training. NICP’s courses include graded assignments and proctored exams that must be administered by NICP personnel. The NICP maintains the official records, scores, and a searchable international database of CPD holders. For this reason, training credits from other organizations (including FCPTI and ACPI) cannot be transferred toward NICP certification.
